So there I was curled up with a box of popcorn ready to watch a sequel to one of my all time favourite movies, 28 Days Later.
What was I letting myself in for?
We all know what sequels are like, right? Well this time, things were different…….
28 Days Later was an amazing film, highly paced, terrifying and exciting all at the same time… and so was it's sequel, 28 Weeks Later. Here's what the synopsis tells you:
Plot Synopsis: The film starts six months after the Rage virus has spread throughout the city of London. The United States Army has restored order and is repopulating the quarantined city, when a carrier of the Rage virus enters London and unknowingly re-ignites the spread of the deadly infection, wreaking havoc on the entire population.
With a different cast to the original film, the zombie threatened London is under control by the US Airforce. Everything is going smoothly with the re-integration to normal life until scientists discover a carrier of the virus…….. and then this carrier kiss her husband. You can imagine the next few scenes!!
The movie centres around one family, predominately a young boy, his older sister and their attempts to escape the raging virus along with a US soldier and medic. The suspense and thrill is just as good as the original 28 Days Later and there are even a few dramatic, unexpected plot twists.
This has to be the best sequel I think I have ever seen, and is perfectly watchable even if you haven't seen the first movie (although I would recommend both if you haven't seen either).
28 Days Later is a film I have watched time and time again, and I feel you would be able to do the same with 28 Weeks Later. There is so much going on at any given time, you are sure to notice new things every time you watch it!
As for those of you which have tender stomachs, this is not the film for you. The scenes are detailed, violent and graphic…. but then it would be nowhere near as good if they weren't!
I loved this film, and was amazed that it was a good as the original – a great stocking filler for Christmas!
Girlie Gossip give 28 Weeks Later 4 out of 5 stars!
……oh by the way, I have a feeling there may be room for a third film to follow on in this theme, but you'll all have to watch the movie and check out the very final scene to see what I mean!
